Terms of service

How projects work, what you own at the end, and what we will not promise. Written to be read, not to be hidden behind.

What these cover

These are the standing terms for website design, development, SEO and maintenance work by Solz Designs, Harare, Zimbabwe. Every project also gets a written scope and a fixed price before work starts, and where the two disagree, the written scope for your project wins.

Quotes and payment

Prices are fixed and quoted in writing before any work begins. The quoted figure does not change because the build took us longer than expected — that is our risk to carry, not yours.

Standard terms are 50% to begin and 50% on launch. Projects over $500 can be split across three milestones. We accept EcoCash, bank transfer and USD cash.

Work outside the agreed scope is quoted separately and only starts once you have approved it.

What you need to provide

Content is the single most common cause of a project running late: text, images, logos, product details. We will tell you exactly what is needed at the start and help you prepare it, but we cannot finish a page we have no content for.

Timelines quoted are measured from the day we have what we need, not from the day the deposit clears.

Who owns what

You do. On final payment you own the design, the source code, the domain and the hosting account, all registered in your name rather than ours.

You can move the site to another developer at any time without asking us and without paying a release fee. We will hand over whatever is needed to make that straightforward.

We keep the right to show the finished work in our portfolio and to describe what we built. If a project is confidential, say so and we will leave it out.

What we do not promise about rankings

We cannot promise a position in Google, a date by which you will reach it, or a volume of traffic. Nobody can. Rankings are Google's decision and depend on competitors, reviews and factors outside anyone's control, and any agency that guarantees a position is either guessing or misleading you.

What we do commit to is the work itself: the technical foundation built correctly, pages that target real measured demand, structured data in place, and honest monthly reporting on what actually moved.

Revisions and sign-off

Design feedback is included throughout the design stage — that is what the stage is for. Once a design is approved and the build has started, substantial changes of direction are quoted as new work.

After launch we fix anything that is broken or not as agreed at no charge. New features are a new quote.

Hosting, domains and third parties

Domain registration and hosting are billed by those providers directly to you, not by us, and are not included in a build price. We set both up at no extra charge and will tell you what they cost before you commit.

We are not responsible for outages at a hosting provider, registrar or payment gateway. Where a maintenance plan is in place we will deal with the provider on your behalf.

Maintenance plans

The maintenance plan is monthly and entirely optional. You can cancel at any time and your website keeps working exactly as it did — the plan covers upkeep, not access. There is no clause here that switches your site off.

Liability

Our liability on any project is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for lost profit or lost business arising from the website, hosting downtime, or search ranking changes.

Nothing here limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.

Governing law and getting in touch

These terms are governed by the law of Zimbabwe.

Questions about any of this: mcgyver8605@gmail.com or +263 77 823 1792. We would rather answer a question before a project than argue about a clause after one.
