Solz Designs

About

A small studio in Harare

Solz Designs is founder-led. Mcgyver Chibvongodze designs and builds every site personally — there is no account manager, no junior handover, and no queue.

The studio

Why this exists

Most Zimbabwean businesses are told they have two options: pay a Harare agency two thousand dollars for a website, or pay a subscription builder every month for a template you never actually own. Neither is a good deal, and both leave you with a site nobody can find.

Solz Designs exists for the space in between — properly designed, hand-coded websites at a price a real Zimbabwean business can justify. That is possible because the studio runs without an office, without a sales team, and without the layers that make up most of a traditional agency's quote.

The work itself is not cut down to match. Every site is designed from a blank canvas, built in Next.js, tested on real devices, and configured for search before it goes live. The build is held to the same checklist regardless of what you paid — Core Web Vitals, structured data, mobile-first testing, Search Console configured at launch.

Who you work with

Mcgyver Chibvongodze

Founder and lead designer. Mcgyver handles the brief, the design, the build and the launch on every project — which means the person you explain your business to is the person who writes the code, and nothing gets lost in between.

The studio's technical position is deliberate: sites are built with Next.js and React rather than WordPress or a page builder, because the resulting pages are dramatically lighter. On Zimbabwean mobile data, that difference is the difference between a visitor waiting and a visitor leaving.

Why Solz Designs

Most Zimbabwean sites are invisible

Not because they look bad — because nothing on them matches what customers search for, and they are too slow to keep the ones who do arrive. We build for the opposite outcome.

  • Hand-coded, not assembled

Template builders ship two to four megabytes of JavaScript before your first word of content loads. Our builds ship a fraction of that, which is why they open quickly on mobile data and why Google can crawl them properly.

  • You own everything

Domain, hosting and source code are registered in your name from day one. No platform lock-in, no monthly ransom to keep your own site online, no asking permission to move to another developer.

  • Built to be found

Search Console, Analytics, structured data and a sitemap are configured before launch, not sold to you as an upsell six months later when you notice nobody is visiting.

  • One person, start to finish

You work directly with Mcgyver Chibvongodze — the person designing and building your site. Nothing gets lost being relayed through an account manager, and the answer to a question takes hours, not a week.

How it works

Ten days, start to live

No mood boards, no month-long discovery phase. You see real screens by day three and the site is online by day ten.

  1. 01Day 1–2

    Discover

A call about your business, not your website. Who buys from you, what stops them, and what a win looks like in enquiries or sales.

  2. 02Day 3–6

    Design

You see real screens, not a mood board. We iterate on the actual layout and copy until the homepage earns its job.

  3. 03Day 7–10

    Build

Hand-coded in Next.js and tested on real devices and real connection speeds — not just a fast laptop.

  4. 04Day 10

    Launch

Domain, hosting, Search Console and Analytics configured. Then a handover session so you can run it yourself.
